DIVE!
This week has been all kinds of stressful, but we all made it through, and finished off with the Baptisms of Maria Ayala and Roberto Romero. I can't tell you how neat it was too see them push through inspite of all of the trials that have been facing both of them. When we went to church last Sunday we were stressed to tears for them. The church is all either of them has right now, and we worried that the new obstacles that faced them and their families at the mention of baptism would push them too far. To my surprise it only further solidified their determination to follow through. The ward has embraced them with open arms, and they are just glowing with excitement and a desire to learn more and to serve. Roberto is going to let us start teaching his kids next week as well!
Everything is going well here. Rumor has it that Sister Cowley may be leaving for Redwood City next transfer. We'll see what happens.. we still have a few weeks left. But chances that we'll both be moved out of Yerba Buena in the next two months are pretty high.
We taught Adonis and Nathaniel (Mariela's boys) the ten commandments last week. They love to read in the Scriptures so we were taking turns reading out loud. When we got to "Thou Shalt Not Covet" we had Nathan (age 7) read it, not realizing that it said "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors ass" ... Lol. I think the room was silent for about two minutes because we were all trying so hard not to show that we were laughing. The boys just thought it was the funniest thing in the world, and Mariela died laughing. Aldrin was not amused, which made it all the more hilarious. haha
We now know to avoid the scripture on the 10th commandment when teaching it to children
Preparation Day Activity- "Ultimate Frisbee DIVE!!! Hermana Bergin Style" --we play ultimate frisbee every P-day, which is an absolute blast. Last week I decided that we should Jazz it up ((speaking of Jazz..I taught a lesson last night and the Jazz/Nuggetts game was on in the background- super distracting. Who won?!!! Updates people?!)) K, so we decided that you had to dive EVERY time you caught the frisbee...and if someone yelled "DIVE" everyone had to dive to the ground wherever they were at. Super Funny...try it sometime.
